Oatgurt Recipe

Happy Trippy Tuesday, everyone!

 

If you’re an active member of the cooking, raw, or vegan communities, or just happen know a lot of random stuff, you may have heard of oatgurt…but probably not. Oatgurt is the result of fermenting oats overnight to create a raw, probiotic-rich, and delicious dish.

This isn’t exactly that.

But it’s close!

This is my version of oatgurt, and its creation was much faster and far less intentionally made than other oatgurt recipes.

The dining halls are almost always stocked with vegan yogurt (which ROCKS), so every few days I walk out with a mile-high stack of them in my arms. It’s a sight.

When I was making oats the other morning, I wanted to give them a creamy consistency but was out of rice and almond milk. Ergo, I cooked the oats, stirred in a container of Silk strawberry yogurt and viola!!

So trippy.

 

So delicious.

Make a bowl.

The oats have a thick, custardy consistency that was sweetened by a pear, a nectarine, coconut flakes, and chocolate.

What a way to start a day, am I right??

Ingredients

1/2 cup dry oats

1 cup water

1 container sweetened vegan yogurt (flavor of your choice)

1 pear

1 nectarine

cocoa powder mixed with water or melted chocolate

coconut flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare oats as you normally would
  2. Stir in yogurt until fully combined
  3. Top with anything you like
  4. Spoon a bite and smile bright!

Now go give it your best, lemon zest!
